Emergency assistance and protection of the population

The project "Emergency Assistance and Protection of the Population Affected by the War in Ukraine" is aimed at providing food and hygiene products, medicines for medical institutions, veterinary drugs and animal feed to farmers.

The Ukrainian Agri Council and the Charity Foundation SaveUA, together with Help-Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe_Ukraine, with the financial support of the German Federal Foreign Office and NAK-karitativ e. V.. implemented the project "Emergency assistance and protection of the population affected by the war in Ukraine".

Region: Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Sumy, Poltava, Kharkiv, Kherson, 
Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions. 

Target group: Internally displaced persons affected by the war.

Budget: EUR 3,000,0000


WHAT WAS ACCOMPLISHED DURING THE PROJECT

The project allowed us to provide food and hygiene products to 20,000 families and medical care to 5,000 patients. It also provided the necessary veterinary medicines to 100 farms to support the production of dairy products in Ukraine. In particular: 

MAY-JUNE 2022: 5,000 hygiene and food kits were distributed in Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Dnipro, Donetsk and Kherson regions;

AUGUST 2022: In Zaporizhzhia, one of the hospitals received assistance in the form of medicines for 1,000 patients, which is hundreds of packages of medicines; additionally, consumables for the neurology department were provided for 150 patients and 200 CT scans;

NOVEMBER 2022: 54 items of medicines and medical devices for hospitals in Uman and Mankivka were distributed to treat 5,500 patients. These included medicines, infusion solutions, medical devices and sutures. Additionally, 17 items of medicines and medical devices were delivered to the same hospitals for the treatment of 1000 patients.

Also, from April 1 to October 31, 2022, the SaveUA hotline for internally displaced persons was established. The hotline provided consultation and information services to people who had moved from the temporarily occupied territory, seeking shelter and assistance, and IDPs in transit in the city who needed to be quickly provided with information and coordinated on their needs or problems. General information support was received from all over Ukraine.

JUNE-JULY 2022: supply of veterinary drugs and consumables for 250 thousand euros; assistance was provided to farms in Kyiv, Sumy, Kherson, Kharkiv, Donetsk and Chernihiv regions - 34 MTVs; 22 of them are members of the Association of Milk Producers; 19,153 - the number of livestock that received assistance.

FEBRUARY 2023: supply of veterinary drugs and premixes worth 250 thousand euros; assistance was received by farms in Dnipropetrovska, Donetska, Zaporizka, Kyivska, Sumska, Kharkivska, Khersonska and Chernihivska oblasts; assistance for 34 farms; assistance for 65 farms; 32 of them are members of the Association of Milk Producers; 26576 units of veterinary drugs; 66 tons of premixes for 18 farms; 35362 - number of livestock that received assistance. 

Among the farms that received assistance under the Immediate Support for the Population Affected by the War in Ukraine project, the Gagarin Farm in Sheludkivka, Kharkiv Oblast, received assistance. The farm's employees received 662 packages of veterinary care, including medicines and syringes for vaccination, and almost 4,500 kilograms of premixes to maintain the healthy physical condition of livestock. The aid is enough to take care of 900 cows living on the farm.

Help - Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe is a German non-governmental humanitarian organization. It supports people in difficult situations around the world. Since November 2021, its team has been providing social and economic support in Ukraine. Vulnerable categories of the population - internally displaced persons, people with disabilities, the unemployed and youth - receive assistance.
