Restoration of Dairy Farms in Ukraine

A Global Solidarity Platform

Losses of the dairy sector during the full-scale war
More than 100 dairy farms and over 50,000 cows have been lost.

Missile and drone attacks on facilities, temporary occupation, power outages, mined fields, destroyed barns, burned milking parlors, loss of working capital, and operational collapse — these are only some of the challenges faced by Ukrainian dairy farms during the war.

Preserving Ukraine’s dairy industry is not a local act of assistance, but a contribution to the stability of the global food system, especially amid war, climate crises, and global population growth.

Preserving Ukraine’s dairy industry is not a local intervention, but a contribution to global food system stability, particularly amid war, climate crises, and population growth.

«Every month, we receive information about yet another attack on agricultural enterprises. With the support of USAID AGRO, we created an interactive map of destruction in Ukraine’s agricultural sector—an instrument that systematically records the scale of losses and documents crimes committed by the Russian Federation against Ukrainian agriculture.

As a continuation of this work, in partnership with Project Expedite Justice and The Howard G. Buffett Foundation, we conduct professional damage assessments of affected enterprises. This data is critical for future compensation and the recovery of farms.

Building on these damage assessments, we have established a Global Solidarity Platform for the restoration of Ukraine’s dairy farms and are calling for international support to transform documented losses into real solutions for recovery and the protection of global food security».

Why should donors support Ukrainian dairy farms?
paly icon This is a direct contribution to global food security. Dairy products are essential food staples, and preserving production in Ukraine reduces the risk of shortages in international markets.
paly icon This is an investment in community resilience and responsible recovery. Supporting farms helps preserve jobs, maintain purchasing power, and prevent forced migration from rural areas.
paly icon Support is based on verified data and professional damage assessments. Assistance is directed toward specific, documented needs, ensuring transparency and measurable impact.
paly icon This helps preserve agricultural supply chains to Europe. Ukrainian farms are an integral part of the regional agricultural ecosystem. Their recovery reduces the risks of disruption and market instability.

WE CONTINUE TO WORK

Through their heroic efforts, Ukrainian farmers continue to sow and harvest crops, support their communities, and ensure food security for Ukraine and the world. However, they still need your support.
