Generators in Action: Feedback from Ukrainian Farmers

Generators in Action: Feedback from Ukrainian Farmers

Farmers from frontline and blackout-affected regions have shared their experiences using the generators — and how these devices are helping them keep going despite enemy shelling.

The generators were obtained as part of a joint project between our charity fund SaveUA with world-renowned chef José Andrés and his Longer Tables Fund.

So, the first generators have been tested in Ukrainian conditions. According to the farmers who received them, luckily the generators are working well and helping farms to keep going without electricity. Unfortunately, the need for them is not going away. Farms continue to operate in the difficult conditions of wartime. The photo shows the generators in operation at the farms.

We would like to personally thank José Andrés and his foundation for supporting Ukrainian agricultural producers. We are preparing to receive the next batch of generators and will later share the stories of other farmers who are currently awaiting the necessary support.

The Longer Tables Fund was established in 2023 by Chef José Andrés. This initiative seeks to address urgent issues in food systems, social justice, and education and advocacy, while uplifting communities.

This is the second joint project of the SaveUA charity foundation with José Andrés. With the support of WCK, from the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, another humanitarian headquarters was opened in Uman, Cherkasy region, where our team weekly prepared and distributed 29,000 food packages to Ukrainians in the affected areas. In total, in cooperation with World Central Kitchen (WCK), we have provided 250,000 food parcels, providing the necessary food to about 800,000 people.
