The next 8 high-capacity generators for dairy farms

The next 8 high-capacity generators for dairy farms

Friends, we have news about our project with José Andrés and his Longer Tables Fund. This week, the SaveUA team provided the next batch of eight powerful generators to dairy farms, which will ensure uninterrupted operations despite hostile attacks on infrastructure in the regions.

Farmers say that a generator is the heart of any farm, because without it, with the start of a full-scale invasion, it is very difficult to organize any processes on the farm.

“Due to blackouts, we had a 6-8 month drop in milk production, which is very difficult to recover. We had neglected cowsheds and untimely prepared feed. To avoid this, a generator is very much needed,” says Dmytro Khomenko, a representative of a company in the Zhytomyr region.

His colleague from an enterprise in the Poltava region adds that the lack of electricity also caused losses in milk production and in the productivity of the livestock.

“Livestock farming is completely dependent on electricity: this includes small calves, which require heat, light, and milk that must be heated for them. This milk must be milked from the cows on time, because if they are not milked for a certain period, it affects the animal's physiology, and it can not only get sick but even die,” says Mykola Tyschenko from the Poltava region.

Farmers also emphasize that artesian wells and a constant water supply for the farm depend on electricity, so a generator for each farm is a means of survival and an opportunity to continue working under any conditions.

We would like to thank our long-standing partners and true friends of Ukraine, the Longer Tables Fund and José Andrés personally, for the opportunity to support farmers in difficult times, as well as the UAC and the Association of Milk Producers for their assistance in implementing the project.

We continue to support agricultural producers and are already looking forward to the next batch of generators this month.

In total, during the spring and summer of 2025, 60 diesel generators will be delivered to Ukraine and provided to farmers to support dairy farms in the regions most affected by the war and power outages.

The Longer Tables Fund was established in 2023 by Chef José Andrés. This initiative seeks to address urgent issues in food systems, social justice, and education and advocacy, while uplifting communities.

This is the second joint project of the SaveUA charity foundation with José Andrés. With the support of WCK, from the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, another humanitarian headquarters was opened in Uman, Cherkasy region, where our team weekly prepared and distributed 29,000 food packages to Ukrainians in the affected areas. In total, in cooperation with World Central Kitchen (WCK), we have provided 250,000 food parcels, providing the necessary food to about 800,000 people.
